Politically- During the reign of Mongols, their political system were not unified. Mongols have let local princes to control their region, while they had collected tax from them. So, it was more like a feudal system in Europe, than a unified country. However, after the appearance of Tsar, it was finally united into one group, based on the family line Culturally- Because of the Mongol reign, Russia was not Westernized. In other words, there was no Renaissance, enlightenment, nor scientific revolution for Russia. Also, culturally and technologically, they were pretty far behind compared to the European nations. Interestingly, their curlew was not Europeans, but also not Mongols. Themselves have developed distinctively, while still they were more to Mongol side. Economically- Unlike Western Europe and similar to Asian countries, they were agriculture-based, without any huge maritime trade route like Spain and other Western European countries. |
